Today we are focusing on the MTA Small Business Mentoring Program (SBMP).

The Basics

Its goal is to engage and grow NYS-certified MBEs, WBEs, Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses (SVODBs), by building or strengthening skillsets for emerging and more experienced contractors through “classroom, on-the-job training, and technical assistance in prime contracts with MTA Agencies.”. Here’s the division of the mentoring programs that pertain to the City:

  1. Small Business Mentoring Program Tier 1 (SBMP Mentor)
    (state and locally funded projects)
  2. Small Business Mentoring Program Tier 2 (SBMP Graduate Mentor)
    (state and locally funded projects)

The Benefits

Programs are designed to give you access to prime construction bidding opportunities up to $3MM and increase business opportunities through professional development training, technical assistance. and access to capital and bonding.
